This is a longitudinal V6 with a lot of room under the hood. If you don't want to change em yourself, how much would a decent independent shop possibly charge?

I just did mine about 4 months ago, it kinda sucks if you dont take the intake off but its do'able. With the correct length wobble extensions and a few scratched knuckles it takes about an hour to do all 6 without taking the intake off.
The first time i did mine i took the intake off, and honestly its stupid easy with the intake off, but taking the intake off takes just as much or more time than it takes to just tough it out without taking the intake off.
Buy the plugs from toyota, the Denso. The NGK dont last as long. Do it yourself and save a pile of money you need a 10mm socket and a spark plug socket, a 3/8 ratchet and a few extensions and a magnetic tool in case one of the spark plugs falls out of the spark plug socket. About an hours time and you will be done.

My spark plugs were done 3 years ago for $730 canadian. add inflation and a bit of greed and your quote doesn't seem that far fetched. but then again my pricing included a throttle body cleaning etc. but still doesn't seem that far fetched

$720, could be worse. My Ford Expedition needed the engine block to be lifted in order to install the plugs.

One of the many reasons not to buy Ford.

Why do you think you need to change the plugs? Mileage? Problems?
720 seems high. I am yet to have mine done.

So what's the average lifespan of the original plugs anyway?

Lots of counterfeit plugs on Ebay and Amazon. If the price is significantly lower than a brick & mortar store like Advance auto parts, Autozone, etc. it's a good bet the plugs are not genuine.

They will last well into the 150K+ range, normally see them burning out around 190,000-200,000 but have seen / heard of instances where people didnt replace them until one burnt out around 250,000
drivers side, normally the middle or rear cylinder is always the one that shows the most wear on the electrode. Cant confirm why, but they will typically go well over 100K miles.
