Anyone added an aftermarket push button start/smart key to their 2019 & older 4Runner

I have a 2015 Trail Premium and at times I wish I'd bought a 2020 model with the various creature comforts.

Just wondering if adding an aftermarket push button start/smart key is feasible and if anyone had done it. I've found a couple aftermarket but don't know if they are reliable or not.

It would require too much for the common dude to get it going. Old Red did it but I believe he's an EE. He needed the multiple wireless modules and their harnesses plus other items to get it going.

Lots of aftermarket remote start kits out there that accomplish pretty much the sane thing. But yea adding the pushbutton and removing your ignition key switch would be a big job.

I understand why you want to do it as push button start is nice. However, tossing the keys to the passenger and allowing them to start the rig from their seat while I'm still loading up the car is also a nice feature.

Talking Im weird like that

Call me weird,but....I like having an old school key ignition. My 2020 SR5 was last year Toyota offered the key. It's nice to just open the drivers door with the key, no need to unlock every door with the wireless button, I just use the key, same for the rear window, just putting one bag of groceries in the back, stick the key in the lock cylinder and turn it to open.

I am the same way I do like the "nostalgia" of having a key still. Lol
