I was just pricing out a 3-in lift then I read something like this
I'm fine going 2.5 in but like 1 inch in the rear?
are these guys out to lunch? or should I have purchased a non-kdss truck?
the lean is an easy fix apparently so I'm not sure if they really know what they're talking about here.

I think actual issues from lifting KDSS have been dramatized/exaggerated and generally prey on fear of the unknown. If you want your rig (KDSS or not) to be 100% certain of having no failures leave it in the garage.
That being said IMHO the ideal lift height for 4Runners (with or without KDSS) is 2" front and rear.
As far as KDSS goes unless your are really pushing your rig and actually going to the limits of droop and stuff you likely have nothing to worry about. The new KDSS spacers and on off switch, sway bars etc are all great and a good add so long as you know their purpose/benefits/drawbacks.
All That being said here's my experience: 2013 Trail w/KDSS lifted from 15 miles to 145,000 miles. Varying heights from over 3" to current 2"/2". Added KDSS sway bar from Sonoran Steel at 100,000 miles ish. Helped significantly with contact between KDSS bracket and sway bar. Added KDSS spacers rear only at 120,000 miles ish. No noticeable difference. Bent and broke lots of stuff over the years but never anything associated with KDSS.
