SR5 with JBL head unit - no volume control

hello, i have a 2014 sr5 with non jbl audio system. the head unit finally gave up. a friend of mine sold me his head unit which was a jbl head unit from a 2018 with JBL speakers/amp.
i installed the head unit and everything works. only things that does not work is being able to adjust the volume. i can not increase or decrease volume. has anyone done this on their 4Runner and was able to fix it?. dont really want to pay someone to diag it but also dont want to upgrade at the moment. any help please!!!!

Did you install the amp that came with the JBL stereo, if not I believe the stereo needs the amp for it to work correctly.

Wait for others to reply before you give up, I could be wrong.

Pretty sure that setup is not going to work without the JBL amp in the rear cargo area and all of the wiring to go with it

Set up won’t work as is, would search fb market for non jbl. Locally I’ve seen some at $50-100 range.
Autoharness house might have a harness to make it work but probably better off buying a used non jbl .

Would recommend upgrading to the 2021 plus headunit

check out the Alpine Halo 9 in the for sale section could probably get a good price on that. The dasaita look nice but you will need to be willing to tinker with android settings and the not so good mic.

Stay away from those tablets posing as a head unit. Not worth your money.
