Slider Suggestions

I’m pretty sold on the idea of getting some sliders, although really they’d act more as a step to access my roof rack/cargo box. I’m pretty much between RCI ($1100, DOM standard, flat) or RSG ($1250, HREW, flat).

It seems RCI would be the best value option but does anyone have a direct comparison as far as how much surface area each provides as a step? Not planning on doing a serious wheeling anytime soon but having the piece of mind of a frame bolted step is mostly what I’m after.

There's a thread on this forum with a bunch of info on this.... but-

I LOVE my sliders from Cali Raised LED. They are made in Fort Worth TX using DOM tubing. They have an OEM appearance to them. The are 100% stout; I can lift the whole vehicle using a Hi-Lift jack, jacking from the middle of the slider.

The powder coat finish is very durable too. I have the angled sliders and still use them as a step with a size 12 shoe. My 8 and 11 year old, as well as my wife all use them as a step. The flat units would probably work even better as a step, but I like the look of the angle.

Bonus is you get 5% off with my code "TRDHULK5"

I've been going back and forth between the two as well. I believe the RSG sliders sit out 1" more than the RCI sliders (comparing flat vs. flat). I'll be getting the RCI sliders in a few months after I get some skids + cat shields.

Thanks for the code! I was also considering cali raised especially because they’re running a 10% off deal right now. How was the install process? Was a jack necessary? The RCI’s seem very simple.

Would be interesting to see a comparison between RCI and Cali Raised!

I installed myself in about an hour or so. I used a floor jack to make the job easier. All bolts lined up perfectly. I almost bought another brand; I'm not going to bash or talk bad, because I don't have personal experience, but on this forum I read that when they did the Hi-Lift jack test on the other brand, the sliders flexed enough to where the rear door wouldn't open without hitting the slider. My sliders don't flex in the slightest.

alot of companies make good sliders now. So i would go with whatever you can get on sale from a reputable company.

I have experience with these two and recommend them both:

RSG: forum favorite.

White knuckle offroad: my favorite. Fully customizable to your spec, but it will cost you.

YMMV

I’ve been happy with my sliders from Hefty FabWorks. They bolted up to the frame easily, can take the weight of the vehicle, and a decent step without sticking out too far.

Hi Hulk. I notice you have a tubing cradle attachment for your jack. Can you share who makes it and what it costs?
@TriballRick , I have the RSG sliders, flat, no kick-out, no grip, powder coated. They were packaged well and arrived with no damage. It took a couple of hours to install (I have KDSS). I chose the RSG sliders because they had options I liked, and because the outside edge is longer.

Amazon.com

This is what i used when i still used a hilift, and pretty much everyone i know uses the one above.

I also bought this one later on, mainly because I have front and rear bumpers.

JeepsNeeds DLA - The D-Lift Adaptor for Hi-Lift Jack

In the end, i just got rid of the hilift all together and went the safe jack route to save weight.

Thank you all for your replies. I ended up caving and finally purchasing some sliders (buy once, cry once as they say). I went with RCI flats powder coated with top plates because after shipping, it was the best price compared to the top brands. Their standard material is DOM steel and it was still cheaper after shipping vs other brands with HREW. I figure you really can’t go wrong with any brand it mostly depends on what sales are running and what they offer!

it shouldn't be a issue with 5th gens. It WAS a issue with 4th gens but i believe they corrected it.

I would reach out to RCI if you have any doubts or questions in regards to their sliders.

I think I got it from a small company called Lotus industries. I think it was like $45
