What is this thing? How big a deal is this?

2019 4R. I was down there changing oil and noticed this loose ring. Please see pictures below.

What is this thing? How big a deal is this? The rubber part looks to be deformed in comparison to the good side.

It’s a clamp from around that rubber boot. Looks like a KDSS equipped system and maybe some leakage on that upper boot. Hard to really tell from the photos.
It may be worth a trip to a good mechanic who can check it out and has the tool to install the clamp.

Yes this truck has KDSS. That is not leakage. It is the rust proofing.

To clarify, it is the clamp for the KDSS bushing around the swaybar. Not the clamp around the KDSS cylinder boot.

I looked around and found this:

Install Video - Kdss front sway bar billet clamps - YouTube

The part that failed on mine is the rubber clamp. People have been replacing these with metal ones to lock the KDSS in place on the swaybar.

You can use that if you want to. The bushing clamp can come off, (as yours did) as the swaybar moves with the suspension. The idea of this billet clamp as seen in the video, is to keep the KDSS swaybar centered side-to-side.

I don't know if this problem is related to gravity balance?
