I forgot to mention if you're open to straying from the big brand HUs look into some of the android offerings. I'm currently using a 10.1" HU from Joying and it has everything I need it to do (optical output to my DSP, provisions for rear/front cam, dash cam, real gps receiver for offline maps, works with cheap bluetooth OBDII readers, etc)... and for less than half the price of the Alpine ILX509 you're considering.

To make sure the SQ wasn't being hampered by "cheap processing" I did a back to back comparison with my now retired Pioneer 880 (the gold standard in SQ HUs from yesteryear) and didn't hear any difference.

Damn I didn’t even think to check the type of output for the DSP. Well when I started thinking about this upgrade I was just going to get the Alpine power pack from trail grid pro KTA-450 hahaha
But now you’ve given me so much to think about
And down the rabbit hole I go Input needed. Sound system upgrades and mixing brands?Input needed. Sound system upgrades and mixing brands?Input needed. Sound system upgrades and mixing brands?

I can't say I've read too much about that amp/DSP, I checked my usual go-to (DIYMA) and couldn't find anything on it. I guess in general it's recommended to download the DSP software for the unit you're thinking about getting so you can at least test drive the settings before buying.

I don't have experience with the Kicker Key stuff, specifically if it has all the DSP controls/flexibility you'll need, but it's another unit that is pretty popular on the 4runner forums.

If you're open to buying used definitely consider a Helix M4DSP or M6DSP which is regularly found in the classified section of the DIYMA site.
