The cargo tray does the job it's intended to do, but certainly isn't something I'd consider buying again. It's stiff, it has deformed and does slide. The only thing that keeps it semi in place is the two tie down rings that pop up in the back; though the tray can still slide a couple inches.

The third row seat 4Runners take a different cargo tray. I assume you got the OEM tray available in the US. My 4Runner came with that and it is not very good.
There is a much better tray for the three row 4Runner, but is available only in Canada or from Canadian dealers. The part number is:
PK241-89H01-01. It also covers the back of the third row seat so when you lay them forward the entire flow is covered.
