Smile T4r 5th Gen, Air Recycle Button On/Off

Hello.

Is it normal for the Recycle button to go back to not being on after the engine is powered down and then back up again?

I don't hear any sounds when I turn it on or off when the dash has power. How can I test to see if it closes when I choose it to recycle?

Thanks a lot.

Farzad

In Arizona in the summer you will immediately feel the heat from the engine entering the cabin when recirculate light is off/disengaged.

What year is your 4Runnner? Due to possible moisture in the A/C evaporator core and subsequent mold growing, Toyota has the system set to always go to outside air when the car is turned off. The dealer may be able to change this setting. Look in your owners manual under "Customizable Features".

I think what you are asking is if the AC system defaults to the recirculate setting upon start up of the vehicle (if the AC is already turned on) or upon turning on the AC. In my '18 SR5 the answer is yes.

I don't particularly like that feature, as it takes far longer to cool down the cabin on a sunny summer day than cooling down fresh air, as it's seldom above 105 where I live (highest recorded temperature 108) but the cabin far hotter if the truck has been parked in the sun; I live in a dry climate also. This vehicle is the first one I've ever owned where default is recirculate when activating the AC system. Annoying, yes, but I've learned to just live with it.

If you hold the button down for a few, it will stay on till you turn the vehicle off.

The light does stay on while the engine is running. The problem is that it is turned off (deactivated) when the engine is turned off and then back again.

No, it isn't about the A/C, it is about choosing to recirculate the air (warm or cold). In my 2020 4Runner when I activate the recycling the amber light comes on. If I turn off the engine and turn it back on it will revert to being off (not recycling).
