Brake pad replacement PSA
Over the years I've changed brakes on more vehicles then I can recall, but as we all know every brake job is a little different. The 4Runner was getting on about 45K so I figured it was probably time.
Everything went relatively smoothly until I went for a test drive. Was hearing a terrible grinding sound from the front passenger side when applying the brakes. Fearing the worst, I pulled back to the garage and removed the tire. Turns out when installing the new pads I inadvertently missed the hole on one of pads with the caliper pin and that was causing the grinding. Luckily there wasn't any damage and upon installing the pin correctly all was good.
Double check your work.
