I think you’re assuming facts not in evidence here.
“Ugly” is in the eye of the beholder. I think it looks great, at least the way I ordered it; without any red trim or the plastic piece at 12. It feels much better than stock too.
“Not needed” is also subjective. You may not find a heated wheel of benefit in Texas, but in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest it’s a welcome addition.
It uses a Toyota frame, so it’s just as safe as the stock one. You don’t lose any of the electronics or safety features, they transfer over.
The only think missing from your post was “get off my lawn!”
