Any feedback on CarTrimHome heated steering wheel?

Before I take the plunge, has anyone tried the new Car Trim Home heated steering wheel?

Not sure why you think that, but it’s obviously missing air bag and trim pieces.

I’m not a fan of the red trim, so I reached out to Sev and asked if they would make one in all black, no colored trim. Sev made that happen for a small addition fee, and it’ll take a bit longer to get.

I think it’ll look good and would well.

You reuse all the missing parts from the existing wheel. Sev's install video shows this in detail.

I’m well aware, thanks. I was stating that in reply to the “it looks awful” comment.

Are they using the stock clockspring and modifying it or do they give you a different one? At any rate I can't help but think that is a terrible idea using anything other than OEM out of a 23. Here's hoping your vehicle doesn't burn down.

There is a new clock spring shown in the pictures.

IMO, anytime you have to replace the clock spring is a non-starter for me.

Edit: and swapping air bags is also a non-starter for me.

Swapping airbags isn't a big deal. Clocksprings however...whoa boy.

none of it is difficult.

however not adding paddle shifters is a big loss IMHO.

It is honestly straight forward, the steering wheel sensor is a giant pain and extremely sensitive

Mechanically, yeah, it's simple but the potential for jacking things up is pretty high though.

why would you say that? there is no manual mode. there is only a "max gear allowed" mode. the trans doesn't rev match on downshifts. paddles would do nothing. there's really no situation in this vehicle where I couldn't just reach down and use the shifter. And I do love a good paddle shift, but there's nothing to support paddles or even make them enjoyable at all on the 4R.

mobbing thru baja one handed is not ideal. 2 hands on the wheel and being able to downshift/keep it in a certain gear would be great.

its not the end of the world, but with the lack of power, i am constantly using the manual mode to lock it in certain gears. so paddle shifter would make it way nicer feeling.

ok, I'll buy that. that's something that I don't get to do where I am.

I bought this CarTrimHome heated steering wheel and had it professionally installed…and it’s great.

It feels like the steering wheel that should have originally been in the 4Runner. You turn it on after starting and it heats up relatively quickly.
