Although a bit pricey, the OEM Audio+ speakers are 100% plug and play. No adapters needed, no wiring harnesses. They sound great.

You will need a wiring harness like this, or Crutchfield will include the Metra ones with your purchase (or charge you $10 at most). You will need to install (solder) base blockers, or farm this out to someone. If you have a friend that can do this it takes 30 seconds.

You will also likely need speaker mounts. These are from Metra, I went a bit higher end since I opted for high end speakers and wanted to avoid flex etc. The Metra ones are likely close to stock quality.

The hardest part will be removing and reinstalling the door panel.
Stupid question here, but are all 1 inch tweeters same fitment? Could I say just get a basic tweeter 1 inch of crutchfield or whever and have it fit? I take I dont need wiring harness or solder for the tweeter or do I?

Thanks for the help on this. I am not very good at speakers and audio..but the ripping sound from the left front..has to go!!!

You'll want to stick with the suggested tweeters that others have used, often even then they still require a modification to make them fit.

The kicker/subaru tweeter drop in makes an amazing difference in a stock setup. I blew mine though and I think installed Focals as a replacement.

I also ran mildly upgraded speakers (power bass from eBay) on the stock head unit which made a solid difference for around $250 (all speakers replaced). These speakers aren't at the level that require a dedicated amp and worked well.

On the OEM + site, not sure if I read it right but it makes you buy the whole set instead of just say a pair?

Ugh confused!

I think go for one of the recommended drop-ins, as NorthPark suggests. Since you listened to the stock system for years the Kicker/Subaru will be everything you need and will take less than half-an-hour to swap.
