Wheels: 8.5/-10 vs 9/-38?

Stock '21 TRD Pro. Thinking of getting new wheels/tires. SCS wheels. Maybe new coilovers since I don't love the stock Fox setup. I do want a wider stance with more poke, hence the new wheels. But I figure... if I'm gonna get rubbing with 285s on the 8.5" -10 wheel and have to do all that work to get them to fit (UCA, BMC, cut fender/liner), might as well go with the 9" -38 from the get go? Or is there a good reason to go with the 8.5" -10?

Oh, I don't off-road. 90% on-road, but lots of driving in snow.

if you gonna put in work, you might as well get the -38 offset wheels.

i owned them both sizes of f5's, and the -38 is aesthetically better looking due to the deep dish.

Any chance you have photos from similar angles with both sizes? Every time I see photos of 4Runners and I'm like daaaaamn that looks good, it's always the 9"/-38. I haven't seen too many with the 8.5/-10.

yeah the -10, don't do it for me. YMMV.

First pic is f5 in bronze w/ -10 offset and 1.25mm spacers.

second pic is f5 in matte grey w/ -38 offset w/ no spacers.

I do miss the bronze. SCS bronze color hits differently than other bronze finishes from other manufactures.

Did I read that right? 1.25 millimeter spacers? Did you mean centimeter? Or inch? 1.25mm is pretty small, but those look like they're poking out a good amount. The -38 are definitely dished out more (better).

Also I like your black TRD skid plate. I've been meaning to have mine powder coated.
