Room for Redarc Trailer Brake Remote Dial in Center Console?

I just purchased a Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty. I would like to mount the remote unit in the center console in one of the blank spots next to the lift-gate window switch. Does anyone know how much room is under there? If it's as deep as the passenger cup holder which is right beside it, I should be golden.

Also, I assume there is no issue with getting a the cable back up under the dash other than buying a longer CAT-5 cable.

In my experience, there's usually enough space down there. So you should be fine. If you use a longer CAT-5 cable, it'll be easier to route it back up under the dash. You can also use cable clips or conduits.

Redarc has a specific switch panel for Toyota trucks. Switch insert panel to suit Toyota Tacoma/Tundra/Cruiser

I believe it is meant to fit on the dash, lower left where there is a blank.

Why don't you call them?

I do have that switch panel. I may be wrong, but it appears to be the same size as the ones in the center console. I'll go with the dash mount if I have to, I was just wondering if anyone had an idea if the center console might be an option before I took it apart.

I’d think the knob would be easy to hit in the blanks where the heated seat switches are usually located.

Here are a couple good options:

I started with it on the left side….

Then decided it would tuck in nicely to the right of steering wheel.

The recess for the one under the Start button seems like it would make it hard to get your fingers on it.

I might do the one on the left, but I think I prefer to be able to adjust it with my right hand. I might be over thinking this. My old controller ramps up the force based on time instead of inertia and I always have to dial it off when I pull into my gravel parking lot at the hunting property. I also thought about if I need to activate if manually for some reason; I usually drive with my left hand so my right hand would just be able to reach down and tap the control without me having to switch hands on the steering wheel and lean forward.

Thank you everyone for the feedback and suggestions.

I think I'm going to see if there is enough room in the center console and try it if there is. I can always move it if I need to.

I'll report back after it's done.

It may appear that way, but the knob is easily operated. It’s also out of the way to it isn’t accidentally bumped or changed.

I tie wrapped mine under the dash. Out of way, out of sight.
