Finally Lifted! Dirt King, Eibach, SCS, Falken

I always wanted to lift my 4Runner but never got around to it. I think one of the reasons was how much of hassle everybody makes it out to be. It was still on the stock Nitto Terra Grapplers (with 55,000 miles on 'em) when I got a flat a few weeks ago and I figured since I needed new rubber, I might as well get bigger wheels, tires, and lift.

After some research, I decided on the new Dirt King 2.5s (made by Elka), Dirt King UCA, SCS Blaze 10 wheels 8.5x17 ET -10, Falken Wildpeak AT4W P-285/70/17 standard load, and Eibach 1" rear springs.

The 700-lb. spring rate gave me some pause, but Dirt King swore up and down they tuned the shocks for a great ride both on and off road. After putting some miles on them, I'm super happy. The ride is fantastic, especially on the post-apocalyptic potholes of SF Bay Area. The ride is both softer and firmer at the same time. I love it. Great adjustability range in the low speed/high speed. It's 1,000% better than the stock TRD Pro/Fox setup. I took it to Hollister 4x4 park and no problems.

Very minimal rubbing on the front bumper/fender and did some trimming that you wouldn't even notice. It did rub the body mount, so needed a BMC. I could probably fit -38 offset wheels now.

I'm running a 2" / 1" lift with the Eibach 1" rears and front coilover preload adjusted. Anyway... so far so good.

Agreed. He will need some sliders. I don’t care for the look of sliders, but you will need them if you do moderate to heavy 4wheeling. Also, helps against door dents from sedans. I went with angled up sliders that tuck in tight and are not overly noticeable.

I’ve done both. I like hitting the trails better than going 60 in some places through the Mojave.
