Brake upgrades

Passively interested in peoples' experience with brake upgrades. I'm not exactly saying anything new here by saying how bad the stock brakes are. I can't imagine how much worse it is once you start festooning your truck with all manner of overlanding gear. Never mind trailering something.

I'm at the point with my relatively stock, 50-ish-K-mile 2018 SR5 to start replacing original parts with better parts as they age out. Like I'd rather tackle a better brake option before suspension.

Much like the stock 4R brakes, the search function on this site doesn't perform very well, so anecdotal personal experience and/or getting pointed to known older threads would be appreciated.

Well, it is new to me to hear about the brakes not being decent. I drove 180k with my '10 SR5 and never had a complaint about them, and the '24 seem to be even better. When brake assist kicks in it will pull your fillings out and put them into the windshield as well!

I've been running the Powerbrake setup on my front brakes for a little over a year now. No issues. If you go that way, make sure you retain the dust shields behind the rotors - they need to be cut to fit the new calipers, but you need them as a spacer to ensure proper centering of the calipers on the rotors.
