17 Limited Climate Contol

i am wondering if anyone has had the symptoms that I am experiencing with my climate control.

This showed up after being parked for two weeks: When the vehicle is first started the climate control display area is completely blank and the AC is inoperable. After 45 seconds, the display becomes active. Sometimes I have to hit the "Auto" button to start the AC, other times the AC comes on right away. After this delay, the system functions as normal. I can change the air discharge to all of the different locations and the different modes are changed appropriately with the temperature selected.

I have searched for others with this problem and can find references to other Toyota models, but not specifically the 4Runner. They mention that the problem could be the Blend Door Actuator.

Have any of you changed the Bend Door Actuator? If you have, how hard of a job was this? I have done this to my wife's Civic and other than having to be a contortionist it wasn't too bad.

I have found references that said the whole dash would have to be removed, but I wanted to hear others experiences before I decide to tackle this.

Thanks In Advance!

whats likely happening is the door is not in the position the climate computer expects. so it reboots itself. I don't think actually replacing that part is difficult, but getting to it might be a challenge.

Thanks for the reply HL.

Got in the car this morning and it is now functioning correctly. Going to wait and see if it acts up again before tackling this issue.
