Front Seat Ventilation Upgrade .. AC?

Tried to search the site without success.

Wondering if anyone has been able to pump cool AC air to the front seats?

Without looking at the setup, it seems I could tap into the duct for the rear seats and bring a hose under the seat.

Is that a dumb idea?

dumb idea? no. worth the time and $? definitely not. at least in my 2012 the seats are not perforated and I only have heated seats. they are heated but not with hot air coming up. you'd have to find a perforated seat if yours are not

I'm very happy with most of my 2013 T4 but the Toyota A/C is inadequate.

I added ceramic window tint to the windshield, moon roof and side windows.

It helped the weak A/C a lot.

While it's not what you asked, I've been using a powered vented car seat cover from amazon for the last 3 years in the summer. It just pushes air through, but helps a lot

butt cooler...

So IF, you really want to go to the trouble, both my wife's (now gone) Mercedes and my brother's BMW used a small blower fan that pulls cool air off the floor under the seats and pushes it up into the foam of the seat, and out.

The retrofit issue is that the 4Runner seats are not permeable foam. The BMW and Merc. seats have foam that allows the air to be pushed into and through the foam and out through the perforated seat covers.
small fan, no duct-work involved, simple on off switch.

I can't imagine that the end result would be worth the cost and frustration...
Good luck if you decide to go for it...

Interesting, I didn't know there was that floor duct. Also learned air only comes out with floor only and floor and face combo setting. Soooo.. One improvement would be to start off with one of those settings till the seat cools a bit then go to full face mode that I usually use 100%

If that doesn't work, I think I can fashion some sheet metal to get better direction.

thanks for the idea
