Electrical Issue 2015 LTD

Hello- 2015 LTD, 207k miles. Had an issue yesterday where after 2 hours on the interstate I lost my tach, temp gauge, "Eco" bar, and I had the traction light and power steering light come on. Also, my transmission went from "D" to 4. I put it back in "D" and it would still go back to 4. So then I shifted to 5, and it went to 3...so then back to D to where it stayed ok until I got home. Did smell some burning rubber on 2 occasions as well. I'm thinking its maybe an alternator issue, but the garage I take it to is not 100% convinced since the battery checked out as ok and there were no other accessory issues. And there were no other driveablilty issues other than the gears changing and nothing on the diagnostic check. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Sounds to me like a computer issue. Hopefully you have a CEL set and some codes to look at to point you in the right direction. Another possibility may be the neutral safety sw on the side of the transmission. There are a few threads about this. Usually it fails from corrosion and casues shift problems and other errors.

Definitely agree it doesn’t sound like an alternator issue. Does sound like a computer issue since you lost multiple gauges

You figure anything out? Check the negative battery cables and connections?
