Are there negative reviews on Car Trim Home units?

The Sveg guy had a video where he was negative on Dasaita units saying the screen was not proportional without a good description of what that meant.

I bought their heated steering wheel for my 4Runner and it works great. However I second the Crutchfield option as a good place to start since if it's just Carplay you can probably find something basic there with good reviews that's easy to install.

Found a 2021 Entune unit at a salvager in Ontario, Canada for C$1,000 or about US$725. I’ll see if they’ll take a lower offer. Is there a wiring harness I’ll need, or will this be plug and play?

With her eyes (developing cataracts, surgery being planned), Screen size is as important as CarPlay.

I think its been about 2 years plus with the OEM car play head unit. I have no complaints, it was a nice upgrade. I looked at the aftermarket ones and reviews are hit miss on them, if you like android tablets and dont mind tinkering with the device go for it. I did install a sony 8100 floating head unit and it was nice but I didnt care for the look of it. OEM look is nice, and there are a few aftermarket ones (android tablet style) that mimic it. Various FB support groups for it but in the end its just a tablet. You can find some cheap ones on FB market, ebay etc.

The OEM just works well with very few issues. Plus the oem gps is nice but I mainly use car play 95% of the time. I found on ebay at a good price randomly and did the install. There is a forum on retrofitting and install process very simple. Id prefer a high def /720p screen with OEM but the wife is happy with it.

I would love to get a radio with a larger screen and CarPlay. My issue is I drive long distances, far away from home, so most of my listening is Sirius XM radio. Few if any of the after market radios have XM. Dasaita certainly does not. I can use CarPlay/Google Maps for navigation, so not really needed in the radio.

That leaves only the OEM radio. But all I have been able to find, so far, is $1200, bit much for me.

I ended up buying an Entune unit from a 2021 salvage for $730 with shipping on car-part.com. There was one for $550, but listing said it was scratched. They could not produce an adequate picture showing the scratch, so I passed. There was one for $719 at a Canadian Slavager, but they do not ship to the U.S. Everything else was $1250 and up to $2000.

Have not received the unit but will early this week. Went with the Entune as my wife has one in her 2023 ORP that she likes and knows how to use, so it was best to keep it the same. I did not want to subject her to the Android units.

I’ll update here once it arrives and it’s installed.

good choice be sure to check out an install thread in the forum. Wiring harness made it plug n play and retrofitting the hazard light.
