Throttle Body

I noticed a few months back that during acceleration the gas pedal felt a little sticky. Yesterday afternoon I spent about an hour researching and cleaning the throttle body and that really makes the acceleration much smoother. I didn’t have any throttle body cleaner but I did have some starter fluid in an aerosol can that worked just fine. I wiped out a bunch of carbon from inside of the throttle body. There are good videos out online but one thing that was missing from the videos and helped me get the hose back on easily was to loosen the top of the air cleaner so you get more room to get the hose on the bottom nice and solid.

Sure, but that doesn’t mean software can’t provide feedback when it knows something isn’t working correctly. I would bet that it has certainly advanced beyond its simplest capabilities.
I scrutinized the footwell and found nothing different from normal. I didn’t scrutinize the throttle body parts. I just cleaned it out.
By the way, conjecture is quite common with Americans.

You DID change out your PVC Valve once you cleaned out the TB...Right??
the biggest cause of crap in the TB is a (partially) clogged PCV Valve.
$5.99 and 15 minutes can solve the shmutz problem...

Good Luck

Feedback through the gas pedal on the 4Runner? No.
