Repost - Limited Transfer case question

ey there folks

I have a 2013 Limited ( Wrong model before I said SR5) that has a slew of problems I am getting it ready to sell. I had to replace the steering rack because one of the turn pressure lines blew.

Now it appears that the transfer case actuator has gone. The shop managed to mangle the whole thing. I'm thinking it might be easier to just replace the transfer case with a used one and then sell the vehicle. The actuator is about $600 and I can find a transfer case for a little more.

Here's the question: The vehicle is an Limited with the full-time 4WD electronic shift. If I can find a used transfer case what years will work? Is it only the 5th gen, or do earlier ones fit?. The parts search engine keeps pulling back cases from 2003-2010.

Is that the shift motor, sometimes called encoder motor? Actuator is typically on the front axle and locks the axle.

Found listing for the shift motor (they also call it actuator) on RockAuto.com. The interesting part is that the Aisin version is cheaper, by a large margin:

have you ordered frequently off rock auto or ordered recently? I did my first order on their site ever and bought an AISIN part. thought I needed to replace my door lock actuator but ended up not needing to

they shipped wrong part, didn't refund me until I followed up 2x and then of course I lost out on the shipping because they don't refund shipping even though they screwed up. I hear good and bad things about rock auto people love them or hate them.

I use RockAuto for pricing and getting part numbers. Their shipping costs are bad. They are a third party vendor so they are not buying direct from the manufacturer. This opens it up to Chinese Knock-Offs (CKO) and I know several who have experienced this, including one who suffered internal engine damage when a CKO of an AC Delco glow plug had the tip of plug break off and drop into the cylinder.

I have called AC Delco on this and they said they would not honor warranty on any AC Delco product purchased from RockAuto because they are a third party vendor, thus they cannot verify whom the part was purchased from. They did say they would honor their warranty on anything purchased on Amazon. I will be pursuing a claim on this as an August purchase of a GM transfer case encoder motor proved to be bad per my mechanic. The part arrived suspect with no AC Delco packaging.

There are some parts I will order from Rock Auto when their all-in price + shipping is lowest, but it is becoming less and less. Things like a Gates Serpentine belt, I have no problem with buying on Rock Auto. Things that could impact the engine, especially internal, I avoid them.

I am currently dealing with a new (not reman) power steering pump that was bad out of the box and it was purchased from Napa with a lifetime warranty. Pump just does not work and I installed a bypass for the variable assist evo and sender to make sure it was not my parts that were the problem. The pump has been removed and installed 3x by me and no amount of bleeding routines have worked. Not excited at all about this, especially after pulling and installing twice today alone.
