Purchasing Toyota Warranty

Folks, I am moving from my 08 4th gen to a 2024 used TRD Pro. Back in the day, I purchase a genuine Toyota extended warranty from an online dealer at a great discount from my local dealer who only sells at full price.

Are there still such dealers who sell discounted genuine Toyota extended warranties?

Pointer please!
Bob

Most people buy a pre-2025 5gen 4R because of their proven reliability. Extended warranties are usually a money losing proposition. That said, I bought a 2024 Limited with only 1026 miles with the used vehicle Certified Gold coverage benefits. The cost for CPO is probably hidden in the price, but that was not evident from the price I paid.

The only thing I buy extended warranty’s for are cars. I have what might be the most reliable 4R ever, the 2004 4.3L V6 but there were a few major issues including the drive shaft issue that the ext warranty paid off.

Anyway, not debating, just looking for info.

I learned that Toyotas are not immune to electronics failures when my otherwise bullet-proof 2000 Camry XL's electronically controlled AC/Heater in-dash component failed. I went on a treasure hunt to find a used controller for $175.00 and the best day of my life and my mechanic's life when the used AC/Heater controller actually worked. I love that the 4Runner has mechanical knobs to control AC/ Heat.

I traded in my 2000 Camry for new 4Runner in 2017 and bought 10-year platinum warranty to cover the inevitable electronics failures if you are someone who keeps vehicles a long time. My 4runner has operated with zero issues except Radio touch screen is now failing when selecting the OPTIONS button. Apparently it is a common problem with the touch screen calibration. If I slightly insert my finger nail under the very top plastic edge of the navigation screen, the OPTIONS button works. I cannot live without Radio stations SCAN and only way to get to the SCAN is using the OPTIONS button. More information than you likely wanted and sorry.

Anyway, Dealer is replacing the touch screen under the 10-Yr warranty and warranty just paid for itself. I was pleasantly surprised when my dealer offered a good deal on the warranty when I bought the vehicle new in 2017.

I have learned to never buy anything costly these days (refrigerator, washer, vehicle etc.) without 10 year warranty.

I am glad I purchased a Platinum "warranty" for my 2017 SR5. At 48,000 miles, just over the 60 month basic powertrain expiration, I received first a new Torgue Converter ($3k), then when that did not solve the shidder/chatter, a new tranny ($5k). The Toyota Flexlock torque converter lock up clutch system is operated by a solenoid and valve inside the tranny valve body.
There is a long Toyota history going across many models of vehicles for decades. Probably a outsourced component failure-but expensive to replace!
I purchased with an electronic gizmo failure in mind-never thought I would need the "warranty" for drivetrain!

Interested in the warranty too. My 2022 lost its brake accumulator @25k miles. Scary sh*t.

Bought my wife a 2024 Highlander Platinum in June. I reached out to Troy for warranty quotes too. Much cheaper than the dealer offer. And can purchase anytime before the 3 year/36k mile mark.
