OEM Tire Mileage Is Pretty Awesome

I have over 75k miles on the original tires on our 2020 4Runner SR5 Premium.

I didn't rotate the tires every 5k miles like they say in the manual or anything abnormal to get this far.

The truck has been used as a ranch truck to move stuff in our pastures, a commuter, a trailer hauler and I can say I never thought I was going to have an issue until recently on a muddy area where they was some new construction going on.

The light truck tires Ive had in the past on my pick-ups got pretty amazing mileage too.

The next set I buy will have an 800 wear rating. I'll probably get them from Tire Rack in the standard size

Ranch truck tires can go super long. Its the high speed highway and windy roads that wear out tires.

Probably 85% highway 10% paved surface streets People knock the Bridgestones Duelers here but my experience has been pretty good. You do need to rotate them or they will get lumpy and it takes some time for them to flatten out again if you dont.

I seem to get great mileage but I’m hard on tires.
My Duelers were at 2/32” after only 33,500 miles and I replaced before the winter snow.
I am very happy with Michelin Defenders/XLTs but still only got 58k out of the first set.

Just changed the factory tires on my 2017 and 2018. Still had plenty of tread. Tires have a lifespan regardless of mileage.

Just replaced my OEM Nitto's at 55K with some KO3's. The Nitto's could have went a little longer, but got really noisy after 50K. Did a 9 hr road trip with the KO3's over the weekend through some crappy weather and very happy with them so far. Went up a size to 275/70/17 and no rubbing at all.

After putting Michelin Defenders on my 2016 they are all I use. I put 4 new Defenders on my new 2023 4Runner when it had 26 miles on it.

Discount Tire gave me $50 or $60 each for the what came on it.

This 2016 TEP w/KDSS is a big step up from the 1986 Subaru GL wagon I used on the Outer Banks beaches for 14 years. That thing would go anywhere in the sand on 185/70-13 tires. Dual range 5 speed, factory skid plate, 3 position manually adjustable rear shocks and armored exhaust. All factory, including the white spoke wheels. The front sub frame finally rusted apart.
