5th Gen in June or July

Was at Detroit auto show over the weekend and Toyota is producing very limited amount of 09's and have plans to release the 5th gen by June or July this year. You can tell the market is being pushed towards the Vensa. Hell they had the trail edition 4runner only. They did not even have a sport or Limited on the floor but they had 4 Vensa's

They were pretty confident that the 4Runner would not be released at the Chicago show.

For what it is worth.

wow, that would be great news if it came out this summer rather than fall. Did you happen to get any more details about the redesign at all? As for an auto show appearance, some had mentioned possibly the NY show in April if not Chicago.

Thanks,

i plan on going to the Milwaukee Show or maybe the Chicago one and will ask questions also. Both are coming up next month for me.

They had no insight on the new design at all. I have spoken to a few of my buddies that work on air flow of interiors and say the they have done work on it and the interior is sweet but the outside was covered in 4 Gen parts to conceal it. The Toyota rep told me to look towards New York for the release.

I'm not going to lie. Since I traded in my '04 v8 4runner for an '08 Accord and wrecked it and THEN got an 08 highlander because my wife wanted me to get something more "fuel efficient" and family friendly, I've been missing the 4runner like it was 'the one that got away'.

Driving a highlander 'SUV' is like eating a soy burger but calling it an American burger. I desperately do not want to like the new 4runner but deep inside, I'm freaking excited.

I just wondered where you got the news,

1.) From a salesman?

2.) From a Toyota Rep?

3.) From another 4Runner owner?

4.) From your Aunt Maple?

I am somewhat surprised, I do know that sales have tanked, so it might make sense.

Peter,

I would say Aunt Maple if it were not for the mention of a "toyota rep" in his post

Must of looked over that huh.

Yeah your right. It was on the third post, but I did kind of like the Aunt Maple part.

His badge clearly stated he was a Toyota Manufacture Representative. I asked if he worked for the dealers and he stated that he worked directly for the factory.

Detroit is the biggest show and they tend to keep the car companies top talent on the floor to impress the media on new and existing products. He felt this would be the timeframe for the release but he also stated anything can happen.

So lets hope he is right and we will see it by the New York show.

I would be surprised if any of the work was done over here, since the 4Runner has always been produced in Japan. Unless your buddies are in Japan?

Yes this is true but outside of Detroit we have a large Toyota Technical center for testing. I receive requests to drop off my 4Runner to them for annual reviews of the vehicle. Its funny they pay too.

Stopped in the dealership today for some parts and my salesman informed me that they expect the release to be in New York and that they are expecting there first Runner in the fall as it stands today. He had no visuals or info on the new design. He told me that he would give me a call as soon as he sees something.

I told him if it sucks I may have to purchase a 09 Limited so he has me as a target sale.

I don't know where you seem to be coming up with your info...but this is not correct. Toyota will continue to build the 4Runner in Japan, not California.

i never said that i have info from others. i said IM GUESSING it will
be made in cali because it makes no sense that toyota will make there entire fleet in the u.s. except the l.c. and not the runner.
what toyota are being produced in japan most are made in the states.
