ElegantViolence: 115 in a 4runner? and you're "mad"?

good luck with that when you lift your rig another 3" and raise your center of gravity that much more. better think about beefing up your insurance.

Yep, a 'speed limiter' - different cars/trucks have them set at different points. It is not a chip but part of your ECU, they do make software/machines that can remove or increase that top limit (no idea if they make it for a 4R or not). My old 99' Durango was @118, and my friends 02' Yukon is around 98, so all depends on what you drive.

I do hope that you do not endanger anyone at these speeds, only yourself.

Thanks, I didnt know that. I always thought it was the tires, and i read the thread you linked to with people mentioning wind buffetting.

My gauge says 120 so i expected it to go 120mph but 115 is good enough for me and no i wasnt weaving in and out of traffic going 115 it was on straight aways and nobody around.

considering your tires are only rated to 106, or 112, I wouldn't be too concerned about going over 115.

Quote:
R 106 mph 170 km/h H.D. Light Truck Tires
S 112 mph 180 km/h Family Sedans & Vans
unless you're in a school zone... then those ratings don't apply

I never tried to see how fast I could go, but I made it from San Diego to Phoenix in about 4 hours and 45min. I averaged about 95mph, but at times I had her up to 110ish. I never did try to max it out.

Nothing fancy here, stock runner. Everyone has seen this a thousand times but I'll post anyway. Here are some pics of my Runner.

Got the windows tinted today, only one pic with the tine and its a shitty iPhone pic.

Here it was before the tint.
