Just a quick note. I had a look at my financing statement (can't find my warranty contract) and it's quite clear to me I got extremely ripped off. I will be canceling the contract(s) this week. I got both the service and maintenance agreements and they total almost $5000.
The dealers are very clever. They don't give you hard numbers on what you're paying for the extended agreements. They just tell you how they effect your payments, and they throw this stuff at you at the critical time when you're signing documents and trying to sort stuff out in a high-pressure environment.
Luckily I'm inside 30 days still. I'm going to see how this goes.

If you had it financed in the deal you will receive a credit toward your balance, so you don't actually get the money back in hand but then again you're not paying interest on it for 7 years and it lowers your balance. So you are getting your money back, just in a lower overall final price that you financed.
|
Actually, you are paying interest on it, but you are paying off your loan sooner. When you get the warranty refunded they do not recalculate your loan, they merely credit your account so you pay it off a few months early. There is a savings of interest, but not the full amount.
Unless Toyota does it differently from other manufacturers.

Super common, they always just focus on payment amounts.. not total costs and break out. "But it's only $12 more a month" even though your paying TRIPLE what it should cost.

@ gamester5
Extended warranty info for a 2020 offroad up here in Canada. I'm assuming the warranties cover Canadian runners.

I bought a 2018 Sr5 new and got the extended warranty during the purchase the vehicle and have been paying for it now for 2 years. I think i paid too much for it. Is it possible to return the warranty and get some money back. And buy a cheaper EW? Or should I just cut my loses.
Gamester5 - If you don't mind, can you please PM me your contact for the extended warranty pricing?

@ gamester5
. Shot you a PM. Looking to get EW info for my 2017 4Runner. I have about 1,000 miles and a couple months before the original warranty is up. Thinking about getting it since I do have kdss and want piece of mind since I did have an issue once already while under original warranty.

Not sure. If you're past the 36,000 mile mark you wouldn't be able to get these deals. You can always get some of your money back on your current warranty but if your past that 36,000 you might want to keep it. If you're under the 3 years / 36,000 miles then it might make sense but depends on length of time / miles you wanted and how much you would get back and if there is a cost savings.

Who buys an extended warranty for their 4Runner?? Those contracts are scams, only Chevys, Fords, and Chrysler products need it.

No, that is false. It can be purchased any time before the 3 years and 36,000 miles expires
