Running Boards
I have a 5th Gen in Magnetic Gray and will like to know if any one knows of a running boards available to our 4Runners. On some of the release pictures it shows a Limited with running boards and in the release video from a Dealer in Canada also shows a Limited with running boards. Just wondering if they were a pre-production item or if they actually will make production at a later day. Thanks

From the photos I've seen the SR5 V-6 and the Limiteds have running boards, the Trail Edition and the 4 cyl 2wd model do not.

Martinjmpr, look at the pictures in the above sticky Official Picture 2010 4 Runner on the #2 post you will se a Limited with the running boards (steps) I'm referring to. "Airborne all the way"

If you look at the Canadian Toyota site, it looks like all the 4Runners (SR5, Trail, Limited) come with running boards (it's listed as standard equipment). If you look at their gallery, the SR5 and Trail have black running boards and the Limited has silver.

I'm guessing that they'll eventually become available as accessories in the U.S.; doesn't make sense that they'd design and manufacture them only for Canada.

Running boards on my LTD is certainly something I'll be putting on. It should prevent sliding off the bottom seat bolster and preserve the leather.

I just sent Toyota USA this question in an e-mail, as I am strongly interested in a 5th gen 4Runner to replace my 3rd gen. However, I will need to carry things on the roof so need the running boards to gain access there. I will post Totota's reply. Until running boards become available, this may be a deal breaker for me.
