4runner 2010 VS. Acadia 2010

Am trying to make the final decision between the a 4Runner and Acadia, I really like Toyota in general and I think they make great cars, am currently driving a CAMRY and am very satisfied with it. This is what I have so far, Acadia seems to have so much more cargo space, but lack off road capabilities, the seats on the 4Runner seem more comfortable then the seats at the Acadia, captain seats on the Acadia together with enough leg room on the third row seat makes it a real 7 passenger car, the 4Runner drive so much more smoothly specially steering handling but a little bet bouncy which I donít mind, the Acadia on the other hand seems t0 have more power and better acceleration when hitting the gas paddle, the 4Runner seems to drag a bet, now for price and availability, I Can not find a 2010 4Runner SR5 Black on Black with third row seats, if am going to order it I will need to wait for almost 3 months and the best price I found was $32,500 which is almost $1,800 then the price of the Toyota build your car website, on the other hand I can get a 2010 Acadia LSE Black on Black Bluetooth and back end camera with Capitan seat and third row seats for $31,000 which is almost $5000 over MSRP, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I am thoroughly convinced that the premium price one pays for a Toyota is paid back ten times over during the life of the car in maintnence and reliablity. Although you may have to wait longer, unless you plan to unload the suv in two years, it is worth the wait to get the toyota.

If the most important thing is the cargo and passenger capacity go with the Acadia. Also if you are not planning on keeping it for more than 3-4 years

If reliability, performance and durability is what you want..and also thinking on keeping it for life...Go with the 4runner....even if you want to trade it in later.... the resale value is way better in the long run and you will get buyers on the spot.....JMHO

PS: if you decide to get the 4runner get a 4wd.

If you want a crossover - get the Acadia; if you want body-on-frame - get the 4Runner.

Two completely different vehicles with different customer bases. Figure out what factors are the most important to you, and that should be your "litmus paper".

Asking a bunch of 4Runner enthusiasts if they would choose GM SUV over T4R is silly - did you really expect anyone here to say that Acadia is BETTER than 4Runner?

FWIW, I own 2 Toyota 120 platform trucks. , one of them was $20K more than Acadia. Money ain't everything...

If you routinely need to carry 6 or 7 people, I think you're better served by a minivan. The 2011 Sienna looks nice, if you're looking at a Toyota.

If you need the 3rd row only for rare occasions, then it seems like you should get the vehicle that satisfies you the most (versus the one with the most room).

As others have pointed out, the Acadia is longer (201.1 in) and wider (78.9 in) than the 4Runner (189.9 in long, 75.8 in wide).

I've learned to not be lured by steep discounts alone. Also keep in mind that you're not going to be seeing steep GM-like discounts on the 4Runner anytime soon, assuming that Toyota continues to keep the supply in check.

The 4Runner was my first choice and I will stick with it, it's more expensive but I need reliability, I usually change cars every 8 years, and we are expecting our first kid this January so I will only need the third row seat when taking road tips with family and basically the kids in the third row seat, thank all. Now I need to start looking for a SR5 black on black or magnetic gray on black, for less then $32,500, I live in Dallas but will actually fly where ever to get one.

FWIW, the first '10 SR5 4x4 4Runner I saw in person, was about a month ago in Magnetic Gray W/black interior, and 3rd row seating.

It was at this Dealer:Salt Lake City Area New Toyota and Used Cars | Larry H. Miller Toyota

The Highlander is closer to competitor to the Arcadia.

If you plan on towing or taking it off road, the 4Runner is your choice. I haven't driven a 5th gen, but my 4th's suspension is far from truck like. It's pretty darn plush, smooth and quiet.

I have never owned a truck but drive several Chevys at work. I thought my new 5th Gen T4R would ride rough like other trucks. Man was I wrong. It is smooth as anything and is a very plush tight ride. Bumps feel like nothing.

If it is just you, your wife, and one or two kids, you don't need something the size of an Acadia. And if you are not going to go offroad or tow, then I would get something other than a 4Runner. I like my 4Runner, but you pay a price for the solid rear axle and heavy frame. If you don't need that capability, you'll likely be happier with a crossover or wagon.

Thanks 02E and bug1964 but none of the SR5 had third row seats (option TH), so am still looking, Las Vegas prices seem to be better then the prices here in the DFW area.

This isn't going to help since I doubt you were planning on flying this far, but I saw a grey SR5 2WD with the third row (and optional audio with Bluetooth, rear-view camera, alarm, 115V outlet) in Honolulu. MSRP including destination charge was $32,310.

I agree -- you will pay a premium for the 4Runner, but I think it's worth it if you like the way it looks and feels. That being said, I'm enjoying my Venza. I didn't need a 3rd row or trailer towing capability.
