Stock Stereo
I am still waiting for my black SR5 to come in. The car is pretty well equipped: Power Leather heated seats, back-up camera in the mirror, Sunroof, sliding cargo tray, etc... Only bummer is that it comes with the 8 speaker stock stereo. Wondering how it sounds and if I will want to swap out the speakers/stereo? Let me know how you guys like yours! Thanks - Scott

I personally like mine, have no issues. Sounds are clear, clean, crisp, & it has good bass w/o distortion. Now if you max it out then I don't know, I actually like to hear the birds when I get up in the morning
I did notice that I had to adjust the Treb. & Bass for each source (FM, XM, USB), so you can have ind. setting for each input I guess. I thought it was a set it once and it applies to all, but it was not.

+1. I was pleasantly surprised with the stock stereo. Of course, speakers are the one stereo item where 'how they sound' is very subjective. (Come to think of it, I haven't checked to see if the dealer kept the tone levels at neutral or whether someone may have boosted the bass and treble.) I haven't listened to the "Party Mode" from outside the vehicle yet (its intended purpose?), but from listening from inside of the cab, that might be one place where speaker improvement might be made. It does serve as a decent "mute" button without cutting all of the sound off.
Sounds like you will have a SR5 very similar to mine (assuming you ordered the tan interior). Bet you're on pins and needles waiting.

I actually got the charcoal leather (I think that it’s closer to black). It was supposed to be here on Saturday, then they switched the date to today and now it has been delayed ‘til tomorrow. Time is going by sooooo slooow =) How do you like your back-up camera?

stock stereo
Mine has the basic stock stereo and I'm actually impressed with it. I went from having 2 12" Fosgate Punch HE's to a stock stereo in my 06 then to the 2010 4Runner and I have to say I really like the stock stereo this time. I too haven't listened to "party mode" outside the car yet but I'm sure once warmer weather gets here it will get put to good use. Hope your delivery date doesn't get pushed back any further. Let us know what you think of it when you do finally get it.

It's not a bad system for stock. You may want a touch more bass (just a bit hollow) and maybe an amp to pull some extra depth from the sound, but otherwise good. You can set the bass, treble etc for radio, as well as XM, so it sounds just as you want when switching back and forth.

I actually find the back up camera VERY useful, especially when coupled with the sonar system. I have a very tight area in which to maneuver when pulling in and out of my garage. Coming from a 3rd gen 4Runner, the back up camera really helps mitigate the reduced visibility of the new model given the additional size and lack of a greenhouse over the 3rd gen. The screen is small, but (so far) the images have been clear and readily viewable.

Backup camera is a little small for guidance, but good when doing any kind of backing up / parking to see how close you are to an object.
Also much better than the wife's hand waving when hooking up to the trailer.

Is backup camera usable at night?

Absolutely useable at night — even in very dark situations. The camera is light sensitive and the reverse lights are more than adequate in illuminating the area out back.

Does anyone know if the factory subwoofer from the Nav option will work with the stock non-nav stereo?
