4th Gen Limited Wheels on a 5th Gen?

I did a search, but did not find anyone who has put the latest 4th Gen wheels on a 5th Gen. I always liked that wheel and I think it would look good on my 2010 limited. Any thoughts?

So I've read through this entire thread and I still don't know if I know what the largest size tire is that can be put on the 20" Limited wheels keeping everything else stock (no lift). Can anyone say for certain what the largest size tire is that can be used within the recommended limits of the 7" width rim? Thanks.

I have 285/50-20 Michelin Latitudes mounted on mine. I'm very happy with the improvement in ride, handling and looks.

FWIW: My on-line photo site has some wires crossed and is displaying pics that aren't even mine. Don't know when or if they'll get it fixed.

These were ok'ed by the dealer? I really don't see how. Based on my research a 265 tire needs at least a 7.5" rim width. What am I missing here?
OOPS! Sorry, I think it's fixed now.

I had them installed at my local Discount Tire and they've never steered me wrong in the past. Their site, Tire Plus Sizes - Discount Tire, shows them as a Plus Zero size for our wheels.

Now personally I would not go with those tires because the sidewall would be even smaller than the stock Yoko's--5.78" (Yoko's) vs. 5.51" (Bridgestone). Beyond that, the Yokohama's simply look like a better tire from an all-season tread design standpoint and were specially designed for the 5th gen 4Runner Limited. Bottom line though, Toyota made a poor design decision IMO going with 20" x 7" wheels--ridiculous.
So let me get this straight, Toyota chose a rim that only has 2 tire options in the entire country that actually fit the rim correctly? Please tell me I'm mis-understanding.

Aren't those wider than the rim recommendation of 7?

I was surprised at the width also, but trusted this: Tire Plus Sizes - Discount Tire

I have a set of Cooper snows, 275/60R20, and I understand the rim with issues, but with a 33.08" dia. will they fit? I will be lifting the front about 2" I'd try them on the truck, but the build date isnt untill November, and if you dont get snows around here now, your out of luck for the season.

Response from Tire Rack about putting 275's on stock limited rims, any comments ?

Below is the response I got from Tire Rack about putting 275/55/20's on stock limited wheels, any comments ? I realy want to put on the 275's but want to be safe as well.
Thanks,
George

You'd be squeezing the tire down to a narrower section width than their designed to work with.

You could mount them, but you'd run in to shops not wanting to take the liability for this mounting. You also have a tire that is ready to debead it self as soon as the tire carcass has enough flex to allow it , for instance as the tire looses pressure it may try and leave the wheel.

. When you squeeze down on a wheel you also increase the wandering nature or tram lining of a tire -= and possibly even addional vibration, fro the tire's tread not making even contact with the pavement.

I'd stick with the 245 stock width, or pick a wider wheel to get into 275's. I'd also be concerned about 7" wide wheels being load rated for the truck, thats normally a passenger car width.

saw this on tirerack...thought it was interesting. be nice if toyota talked about this...

"some vehicle manufacturers and tire companies have permitted rim widths that are not within the tire's original approved rim width range. For example: BMW has combined 235/40R17 sized tires on 17x7.5" rims (which are 0.5" less than the narrowest 8.0" wide rim listed for the size) on certain M3 models; and Chevrolet has combined P255/50R16 sized tires on optional 16x9.5" rims (which are 0.5" wider than the 9.0" wide rim now listed for the size) on certain Corvette models. While these applications have received the approval of the vehicle and tire manufacturers, staying within the approved rim width range helps assure that the tire's internal stresses are within its design parameters.

Because tires have flexible sidewalls, a single tire size will fit on a variety of rim widths. A tire's rim width range identifies the narrowest to the widest rim widths that the tire is designed to fit. The width of the rim will influence the width of the tire. A tire mounted on a narrow rim would be "narrower" than if the same size tire was mounted on a wide rim. NOTE: Because the overall diameter of a steel belted radial is determined by the steel belts, there is little, if any, change to the overall diameter of the tire due to differences in rim width.

The industry rule of thumb is that for every 1/2" change in rim width, the tire's section width will correspondingly change by approximately 2/10"."

I have a 2011 Limited that has the 2" leveling on the front. I am in the market for some new shoes and would love to put on 275/60 as opposed to the 275/55. My issue is that I do not want rubbing. I don't mind trimming a little up front, but don't want to go nuts with it. I believe I remember Gary (harper7) saying something about trimming without making it look like you trimmed. Anyone who has done this please help! Thanks guys!
