Used 2010 4Runners
I was looking for a third row seat 2010 4Runner in TX for the last 3 months, a dealer in Dallas calls me today they have 40 used 2010 4Runners with mileage between 2000-4000 miles, I went test drove one looks brand new, they told me they were used for demos at another dealership !!!!!!!! something does not sound right, they only offered me $2,000 off MSRP which was redilclus for me, I alwys heard that a car looses 20% in value as soon as it gets out of the parking lot, and some other people on the forums were getting $2000 off of MSRP for brand new 4Runners, any ideas? Thoughts ? am thinking it;s got something to do with the Toyota recall!!!!

1) 40 demos sounds awfully high.
2) $2000 off MSRP is a shitty price for a demo that has likely been driven hard.
3) It has nothing to do w/ the recalls. 4Runners weren't on the recall.
4) Calm down.

It wouldn't surprise me if there were a lot of demos around. Toyota delayed releasing these things from port for 2-3 months and there were a LOT of them floating around for dealers to learn the new models before they were finally released from port. There were sightings for at least 10 weeks while some of us couldn't even get the vehicles we ordered back in September/October!

If you guys remember back a while, there were members reported seeing trucks at dealers that were not for sale but used by sales staff to learn about the truck.
It is possible these vehicles are part of that group.

Those would be a 'hard' 2k-4k miles! Personally I would not even look at them, but If you are I would offer a very low price, if they dont take it then walk.

$2000 of MSRP? Laugh at the dealer and walk away.

You should be able to pick up test SR5s for about $25k or thereabouts. Anything more is a ripoff.

Make an offer! But be prepared to walk if you do not get a very good deal. Try for 30% off msrp.
Demos are a crapshoot, but any serious problems will manifest themselves within the warranty period.
Have them throw in an extended warranty at the end of the negotiations.
