Bluetooth "In-Call" Call Transfer

I have a 10' 4R SR5, basic stereo with bluetooth. While I absolutely love the bluetooth for it's call quality and dependability, it kinda sucks regarding ease of use. One thing I cannot figure out how to do is to transfer a call to my phone during a bluetooth conversation (i.e. someone is in the car and I want to talk to the person on the phone privately). I have a Moto VE20. I've read the 4R manual several times, tried every thing it says to do. I've even tried turning the radio off during a call....it won't let you. I think my only option is to wade through the multiple screens on my phone and manually disable the bluetooth when I want to have a private conversation in the vehicle, which is probably the equivalent of texting someone while driving. Has anyone figured out how to do this? If so, what kind of phone do you have? I wonder if it's just my antiquated phone (less than a year old).

Change your phone settings to that bluetooth setting icon is on the main menu. I did that w/ my 4 year old SLVR and I can turn bluetooth off by simply hitting the bluetooth icon and then selecting the on/off.

Based on that, it looks like you can't do it while the car is moving, except from the device itself:

"While the vehicle is in motion, a call cannot be transferred from
the system to the cellular phone. Also, this operation is invalid
while dialing or receiving a call."

I have an LG Dare (verizon). I will check later, but I hit one button (after i unlock the phone) and the call goes private to my cell only.
