Opinion on Limited 4x4 Pricing?

Got a quote for a Limited 4x4 w/ nav, mats and vehicle shield plus pkg for $39,700.

Good deal?

I'm assuming that price is before TTL? I received this quote today:

The out-the-door price on the Limited 4wd 4runner with
navagation is $44,955

Supposedly, that's $500 over invoice...

I think OTD (Out the Door) prices are irrelevant, unless you're comparing it to someone else w/ the same sales tax and tags... like in Colorado - the tags are completely separate from the deal.

regarding the $39,700... that's about a grand more than I paid here in Colorado (LTD 4x4 w/ NAV - no third row). We don't have the vehicle shield package here in CO (at least not to my knowledge).

Good luck.

What area are you searching?

In L.A. it should not be difficult to get under invoice. I have seen $700 under.

2010 Toyota 4Runner optional equipment at Edmunds

As for the vehicle shield, that sounds like a way to pad profits. I would not buy any vehicle with something like that. Unfortunately, if you don't live in a place where you have 30 dealers within 30 miles, the buyer is at the seller's mercy.

I'm in the Dallas area and the pricing is before TTL.

The vehicle shield is a port-installed option and I agree it's a profit/pad. It has the paint protection film which I do want to avoid rock chips on the hood. Seems like I always get those.

How many of you guys are getting Limiteds significantly below invoice absent any dealer/factory incentives?

I'm wondering if I should be waiting until the model year changes since we're practically in August now.

I think being in Tejas subjects you to the SE distributor and you get stuck with add-ons that pad profits.

All you have to do is ask the fleet/internet manager how far under invoice they can go. They either say, "sorry, best i can do is 300 over" or some say "come in today and i can sell for 300 under invoice".

The invoice for that truck is ~$39,600 +-, GST has 3 or 4 mop and glow packages that sticker from ~300 all the way up to ~900. GST has the dealers by the short hairs, they charge the dealers about 60% of the GST installed 'options' list. Depending on which 'protection' package is on it, $39,7 ain't too bad- somewhere either at invoice or a little under.

If you are willing to wait you can get one in the GST region without any PIO. You just have to wait for one to show up at the port.

I've had excellent experience with Atkinson in CLL and their internet/corp. sales dept. They have never balked at my $700 under invoice offers.

Determine the price that you are willing to pay for an exact spec. list, call the internet sale dept. (Miki is great to deal with) I don't ask them the price, I just tell them that I want to purchase this vehicle at this price and politely ask if they can help me.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I am in the Dallas area and also bought a limited 4x4 - what dealership are you dealing with - what is the sticker price with all options?

Funny, when I don't ask specifically "how far under invoice", I always get their standard 0-500 over invoice. After calling and asking "how far under invoice", the price magically changes. Please note, that if they think you are ready to buy, they will give you a better quote than an anonymous email.

I agree about getting a better price when you're ready to buy. In fact, if you take one off their lot they'll really give you a great price. I think that's why I got my Limited with
3rd row and Navi for 38,500. Unfortunately, I'm now getting hosed with some after market and late additions that I'm purchasing but I guess that's to be expected.

walked into a dealer in my area at about 8:45 PM when they were closing at 9. I went because I wanted to see the optitron display at night because I had some doubts about the look of the dash on the 4runner. I knew I wanted an LE with 3rd row, Nav and a beige interior but had been looking for a month and no one had that combo. I went to this dealer simply knowing they had an LE on the lot but not bothering to ask what options it came with. When I saw the exact truck I wanted I was shocked (I had been checking online stock every day). They gave me the standard line "What will it take to get you in this car tonight?" routine.... I said I would pay the price I mentioned. The dealership closed as we negotiated. I came up with that price because I had ordered one from a car "broker' (there's several in the NY/NJ area), who had said they could get it to me for 38,900...So I picked 38,500 and hoped for the best. I ended up leaving my Honda Pilot in the dealer lot and driving home with the 4Runner at 11:45 PM that night. My understanding is that if you get the dealer in a situation where it's the last sale of the day and they may want to clear a spot, they'll sell it very cheap. I also learned that dealers don't make as much on sales as we think...They make a lot more on service/parts, etc..They may be willing to part with a car for near cost..So they actually check your history and can make determinations about the kind of customer you'll be. They may sell a car at near cost. I also found out that the bigger dealers get more incentives and can sell a car cheaper than other dealers.
I also learned that dealers may not list their all of their stock or may have a car labeled as "sold" just because they don't want to trade it out to another dealer. So you have to physically visit dealers when you're ready to buy.
I'm really not that smart, though... I got hosed later on when I went to a different dealer to get remote start and an aftermarket DVD installed and ended up over-paying.

there is a TDA cost you didnt add on the the car for northeast section atleast. Its about $800 cost to invoice. So 40K is the invoice, not 39221. Believe me, i have the order that i ended up cancelling.
