Pics from my failure trip this weekend V.Backpacking

Planned to go on a short backpacking trip this weekend to a place called Blue Lake (7 miles each way). Friend and I set out Saturday morning. Got a late start, got a little lost a couple times, finally found the camp ground where the trail head was. Then we had to hunt for the trail head, finally found where that was, and set out.

Somehow during the hike my watch got bumped to the second time option (can set it for dual time zones or whatever), so it was almost 2 hours ahead. It’s a newer watch, compass, altimeter thing – So I don’t really know all of its features. Mid hike I checked the time, I was like “holy shit dude it’s almost 3”. We were trying to figure out how the **** we spent almost 2 hours ****ing around at the campground. Anyway we hiked a few miles in then then turned around and went back. We got back to the campground around 5 (or so we thought).

Decided if we were going to “car camp”, we’d just go back to the nearest town, get better food (not Mt. House meals), beer, etc. Once I was in the 4Runner and started driving back I looked at the clock and realized we ****ed up (it was 3ish). After driving all the way back to the town, we just decided to eat in town, grab some beers, and find a camp site closer to town…. All campgrounds were ****ing full! On the way in we had saw some non-sanctioned camping/fishing area along the Columbia. We decided to go back there, private property - no camping. At this point we just said **** it and left.

Fail weekend. Anyway here are a few pics. About 1.5 miles in there is an awesome view of Mt. Adams.

From the same spot looking to the left (west) - Mt. St. Helens

The little shanty, hole in the wall bar, where we got some food

Only the highest quality beer here... PBR. They don't just give out that Blue Ribbon to anyone.

Grilled ham and cheese

On the way home. Mt Hood in the distance.

Full moon

Wow, those are some amazing photos! Thanks for sharing. Sorry things didn't go quite how you planned, though.

Your trip sounds like something straight out of my travel logs. We have similar luck it seems.

Anyway, awesome photos!

*sigh* These pics make me miss Oregon. I've only been twice, both were to Portland and in November, although most recently we we out to the coast as well, but I absolutely loved it.
Unfortunately, because it gets colder in the winter than it does here in Houston, I can't convince my wife to move there.

Dude, you live in my backyard! Nice pics. Where is the 'Bungalow Bar & Grill'? It looks like so many roadside dives I have stopped on fly fishing days that they all get a little blurry

Thank you!

Just a basic Kodak 12MP point and shoot. Model z1275.

A lot of what you see is done post processing (albeit very simple). I just use the Microsoft office Picture manager that comes with the Office suite. All I really do is bump down the brightness and up the contrast a notch. You could really do it with any free editor. I also sometimes just use the "auto correct" option. Very simple.
