AC Temp Fluctuations During Idling.

I live at the beach , but drove out to the desert with the wife and little boys so my 9 year old can get some practice with his new 20 gauge semi auto. As the day warmed up, the wife and boys would sit the TE Runner and cool off with the AC. Blew nice and cold during this time. But I did not take a temp reading.

We left and on the way home we stopped at a drive thru and got some ice tea's. THe AC was on recirculate max but was belching out cool air not cold air. I had my laser thermometer that I measure barrel temps when going full Rambo and got a temp out of the vent. It read 72 degrees, WTF? As we began to drive it cooled down right away as normal.

Pulled into a Bass Pro Shops on the way home and since the wife equates the Bass Pro as a men's Walmart she waited in the Runner. Same rough outdoor ambient but this time the vent readings were 48 degrees, weird?

So has anybody else run into this? I'm headed to Hawaii to go surf for a couple weeks but return on the 30th and leave the next day for Yuma Az to dove hunt from home base of So Cal. I do not want to sweat my delicate flower a$$ off in Yuma. I have a Tundra Crew Max but the AC sucks sweaty donkey dong as well. I've been to Japan it's hot and humid out there don't those fvckt_rds know how to build a American style freezer type AC?
