Mpg

Ave 21.6, caculated by hand. 80% highway w/ac.
Worst: 19 mpg with 4 large men and and a small wife. I was surprised that the extra weight made that much difference.
To my suprise, the trip computer is quite accuarte for MPG.
4x4 Limited, 10,000 miles.

Mpg

My display almost always reads 20.5. City driving exclusively. I am never in a hurry though and usually keep the ECO light on.

the 4G's MPG computer is notoriously "optimistic" however...

currently averaging ~18.0 @5k miles and almost entirely city driving. this is with the heavier E load range Duratracs (stock size) and a decidedly non-aerodynamic thule rack (not using a fairing currently).

i'm happy enough, but hope it will continue to improve. i didn't buy it for the fuel economy, but given that i gave up the 4G's V8 i would like to see a marked improvement nonetheless.

ya, that may be the case, i've never actually did the calculations on either vehicle and i'm not that worried about mpg. i do mostly highway driving, but it's typically at higher speeds, 75-80+.

So far i got 18.6 mi/gal on mixed City/Highway drive and 21.3 for Freeway only. That is a SR5 4x4.

Hrmm...after reading the MPG reports from members, I am kinda questioning my MPG computer. I have a 2010 4x4 SR5 V6 and it consistently reads 19-20mpg in the city and 24-27 HWY. Even with aggressive driving the HWY never drops below 23. Next time I fill up I guess I'll get the pen/paper out.

In comparison the 2008 V6 Sport 4x4 is getting around 16City/20HWY and the 2004 V6 SR5 4x4 is getting about the same.

16.5 - 17.0 city; ~19-20 highway; calculated by hand. Trip meter matches hand calculation within 0.5 mpg. Tons of sitting at red lights in this city - the combination of sitting there & having to constantly start kills it. I keep the eco light on once i get above 40 or so; can't drive slow enough to keep it on below that.

I don't own a 5th Gen T4R yet, but we are contemplating buying one. So we rented one from a local Toy dealer for a weekend recently, and drove up and down the hills through the mountains to a small city in the mountains, then out to a very remote property over very bad roads, 60 miles round trip back to the small city. Then we drove all around the small city, then back up and down the mountains back to the metro area we live in.

This was a 2WD SR5 with about 1800 miles on it. I zeroed the onboard computer at the start of the weekend trip, and we averaged 21.5 mpg over the varied driving of the weekend. I was pretty impressed, considering the vehicle had so few miles on it. I presume the vehicle would get better mileage with more miles on it. Our current driver is an '04 Toyota Highlander. It is lighter and smaller than the 5th Gen T4R, and it would not have gotten any better mileage.

How do you reset the MPG computer on the 5th Gen? My Crew Max is pretty easy to do but this seems different.

Push the button next to the odometer a few times and toggle to the avg mpg display, once there hold down the button for a few seconds and it should reset. it's also explained your owner manual.

Thanks all. I figure if I get in the 2010 what I'm getting now then its all good. I had a Rubicon Unlimited a few years back and got 16 regardless. One more positive check mark for the Trail Edition.

Te

I commute 180 miles a day (got my TE in Feb) and have been averaging 21mpg. Just passed 20,000 mile!

I've been b/w 20.4 and 21.4 for the last 20 fill-ups or so. Very consistent. Most miles are at 65mph or so with about 36.9% city driving.
