Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

Just registered on the forum today after lurking here for a week or so. A 2010 trail Edition is on my short list and I was wondering what kind of milage you are all getting real world compared to the claimed 17 city, 22 hwy. My 97 SR5 2WD gets 19/20 city and 22 hwy. Thank you! Great forum.

Ltd w/ full-time 4x4 on stock tires gets about 18.5 in the city and about 21-22 on the highway - pretty true to the sticker in my exp.

Trail with about.... 75% of my miles coming from city driving and I'm at 19.5 average. Every time I take a road trip it's up about a tenth of a mile by the time I get back. Engine cruises at about 2k rpm and rarely bumps up, but goes to about 3k rpm when it does.

My morning drive of 24 miles is freeway speed, coming home it's bumper-to-bumper for about 12 miles, freeway speed the rest of the distance. 18.5 MPG average over first 1500 miles.

i don't monitor and don't care, and with more aftermarket mods it's just gonna get worse.

fwiw, the last time i scrolled through my instrument cluster display my mpg average was 18.0; i've never reset this and i've put 19k wonderful miles on my truck driving 50/50 city/hwy.

I'm getting a pretty consistent 15 mpg in the city. Haven't had much highway yet--just my trip from Boston 20.5 mpg.
Are you guys resetting the MPG reading when in city driving and again when doing highway? If not the readings aren't accurate--it just becomes a combined city/highway reading.

Currently 15.1 per the computer in all suburban stoplight to stoplight driving. It hasn't been above 16 since I reset it after our trip to Iowa. I'm a little disappointed, but neither the wife and I are not light on the throttle so I guess it's to be expected. Only 5800 miles on it, so I'm still hoping it'll get a little better as the miles rack up.

Averaged just under 19 on highway to/from Iowa, but that was at ~80 mph speeds where the vehicle's brick-like shape kills it.

I'm not using the computer. I keep track of every fill-up using an app on my iPhone.

Usually 22.Xmpg calculated via pen and paper (actually gas cubby on my iphone). My round trip vacation to NC was over 23mpg.

4WD, SR5, V6, 95% highway driving.

To and from work, 24 miles of stop and go (75mph) highway. 19.1 computer average (19.5 my calcs).

If you keep it under 65, I've had the average up to over 20mpg. Over 65 I can't get over 20.

Not a lot of miles so far, mix of on/off road, hwy/city driving. No bumper to bumper.
The on-board is pretty accurate.
Here are my MPG calcs from fill-ups.

23.13
21.55
22.59
20.90
22.83
21.69
19.58

I'm getting just shy of 20mpg-60% highway and 40% city driving. It's only got 500 miles on it and I'm sure the mpg will get better after the break-in period.

Heck my Infiniti G35 got just slightly better mpg. Besides, the 4Runner only requires 87 octane.

Consistently get 17.9mpg mixed highway and streets. Probably 80/20 highway/street. But I'm heavy footed with average highway speed between 75-80mph.
