Any experience with Military and College Grad rebates?

I am AD military and a recent/future graduate. (Bach - May '10, Masters -May '11), had a local dealer tell me I could take advantage of both of these rebates. When I researched the rebates online, the 4Runner was not one of the models listed in the requirements. Anyone else able to use these rebates on their 4Runner purchase? Can dealers manipulate the applicability to make a sell?

I have emailed that same dealers internet department asking the same questions to see if they give me a different answer than the salesman, a couple of other dealerships as well...

Figured if I can get a straight answer anywhere, its here

I'd try to go through the USAA car buying program,I used that and got a far better deal than what I'd get with any military/student discounts but that's just my 2cents....

20 years ago when i was AD, dealerships turn their backs on me. Basically, they say military folks don't make that much to afford new cars. Nowadays, it's assbackwards. I guess it's all about the economy.

USAA got me a quote from a few dealers all around 38K plus some change. I'd like to see if I can shop around for invoice or $500+...So maybe closer to 37K. Regardless, rebates are rebates and if I qualify and possible, I'm using the USAA price and them.

I've been in 15 years enlisted and will be commissioned in May '11. When I was an E-3/4 it was hard to buy a car, even a decent used one. We just don't make that much money. But after 15 years...I'm taking a bit back from the government. They are paying 100% of my education and paying me my full active duty pay while attending school full-time.

Hi,
although I bought my 4runner new in 2004 I told them that I expected to get the college grad rebate since I had just gradutated from college 18 months earlier,. I don't know if they are as aggressive nowadays with their rebates since I was also able to get an additional $1500 rebate plus 1.9% for 60 months. Check mulitple locations such as edmunds or costco or sams website as well. Hope that helps.

I bought my Limited from Beechmont Toyota in Cincinatti and got my Military Discount. The dealer here in Indianapolis did not even mention it was an option. The rebate is directly through Toyota Financing though, so if you finance elsewhere you would not get it.

Even though it wasnt the lowest interest rate, with the Toyota Finance discounts/rebates and the trade in value that Beechmont gave my trade, I still ended up paying quite a bit less than what I would have paid here in Indy.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have had a few dealerships email me back and it seems to stand that the military rebate of $500 is valid on any Toyota vehicle, as long as you finance thru Toyota (as mentioned above). The $1000 College Grad bonus is not appplicable to the 4Runner... Damn.
