iPhone 4 Finally Fixed!!
I did the latest update and it seems the iPhone 4 is finally usable with the 4Runners steering wheel interface.
The equalizer on the phone works better than the iPod too, the settings made in iTunes work much better. I was waiting for this, now I can put my iPod in the glove into retirement. I was getting tired of updating and adjusting two units every time I added a song or made adjustments in the equalizer.

Yeah, iOS 4.1 included the proper bluetooth profiles to allow previous and next track control. Mine has been working well for about a month now.
Occasionally I'll run into issues where the bluetooth will connect but the audio player doesn't recognize. Hitting the Voice Button and saying "setup", "phone setup", "select phone", "quentin's iphone", "confirm" will get it to basically reset the bluetooth connection and that sorts it out. I probably have to do it once a week or so, though.
Battery life is surprisingly good w/ bluetooth streaming. I can usually get 6+ hrs of constant streaming.

I guess I never tried it after the 4.1 update.
The EQ is the biggest thing. I can finally use the damn EQ since the scroll function works.
Now, if we could only use the custom EQ on the phone. Was that fixed?

Does anyone get the occasional time where their Iphone 4 wont stream music, or in some cases my iphone will start playing music through its speakers rather than over bluetooth (that one is REALLY annoying, especially when its in my pocket).
It will work fine for weeks at a time and then randomly wont work one day. I have a 2011 trail. Anyone have any solutions?

Yes, I have this happen. Solution is:
Settings app > General > Bluetooth
Under "devices", you'll see "Car Multi-Media". Click that... not the blue arrow, though. That will refresh the car multi-media search and it starts working properly.
Now, once you are connected, if it is still acting strange and sound is coming through the iphone speaker, go into your ipod app, and click the little rectangle w/ a triangle in it (this is in the 'now playing' screen). Make sure that you have car-multimedia selected instead of iphone speaker.
I absolutely love the bluetooth streaming, btw. I only plug into the USB port when I need to charge my iphone. The battery usage on the bluetooth streaming is surprisingly good, too. You can also run Pandora or Youtube through the bluetooth streaming. It is a good way to listen to a song that you don't have downloaded. I haven't tried Netflix.

mine does the same thing. I find it does it most when coming from a phone call--not all the time though. No real permanent solution, that I'm aware of, besides getting a different radio.

I've mainly only noticed that when starting my car. A solution i've done, is before i turn off my truck, i turn the radio off. Then later on when i turn my truck back on, (the radio is off), i'll wait a few seconds before turning the radio on, since the phone is already connecting via BT in the background.
Having the radio off when the car starts seems to fix the problem of the phone not connecting or it starts playing on its own and not through the radio.

Quentin. going into settings>bluetooth is what I used to do. Lately however THAT wont work either. My iphone gives me an error that it cannot connect and to make sure that 'car multimedia' is in range and broadcasting....obviously, it is....
SOOOOOO annoying to have to pull over and re start the car, or go through the whole voice guided pairing process again!!

Mine does this quite often, thought it was cause mine is Jailbroken. Guess not. Anyways My stereo shows that the iphone is connected yet doesn't play audio. It works fine for phone calls though. What I end up having to usually do is Reconnect the iphone to the stereo via the stereo steering wheel controls. Setup->Phone Setup->Select Phone->iPhone(or whatever you might have it named.)->confirm. Then it seems to work fine. I'm using Pandora vs iphone's ipod player though.
For the longest time though it was working flawlessly, then the last few months I've been having issues. Oh well!!
