Saw a 5th Gen 4Runner this past weekend on the trail with these. Used them as sliders and they did great. Not sure I would depend on them as true sliders, but he hit a few good rocks with no rocker damage.

Definitely not sliders, they bolt to the body same as the OEM steps. They are well built though and much better than nothing at all.

There were times that I have gottten hung up on some ruts while off roading because of the side steps being low, So I decided to remove them. I don't necessarily need rock sliders. I just need the main rail to protect the rocker panel from getting damaged. I don't plan on sliding on any rocks, but I'd like to have peace of mind that if I ever do get hung up again, my rocker panel is safe.
