Headlight assembly removal
Has anyone removed a headlight assembly yet?
If so, how big a deal is this?
I've got the top shroud off, and the shroud strip over the fender off, but can't see what's underneath the light.
I'm giving serious thought to having my lights modded to HID projectors (I will start another thread about this, but first-things-first).

Try here.
Just scroll down to post#21 and follow the link.
Look in the Repair manual, it has a section for headlamp removal. Looks pretty straight forward.

Unfortunately ,you have to take the front bumper cover off first to remove the front headlight assembly off.
First ,unplug the elec. connector. Then there are 3 bolts and it slides into an alignment bracket off the subframe on the bottom.
The 3 bolts as pictured on the drivers side.

I wish I would document my projects as well as harper7 does. I might start and end with a lot of pics but I forget during the project sometimes.

Replacing 4th Gen Headlight Assembly
So, I've been researching online for a good replacement for my headlight assemblies on my 05. There is a ton of back and forth in regard to getting a true Toyota assembly or going after market. Can anyone direct more specifically to why I would go one way or the other? I know Toyota charges around $200 per assembly and I can get after market for around $60-100. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've tried the restoration, but only lasts 6 months or so. I now have cracks forming on the current assemblies. Looking to do the work myself as well. Thanks in advance!

headlight assembly replacement
I had to remove the front bumper in order to get to all of the mounting bolts.
I found a great video on YouTube and it was simpler than I thought.
This sounds complicated, but actually the whole process of replacing the headlight assembly, took about an hour.
Given that it was my first time, I know I could do it quicker in the future.
I replaced my assembly because condensation was getting into it.
Now I need to properly aim it since I am using HID bulbs.
