Recovery Points on the 4Runner

Hey guys been lurking around the forum for a while and decided to join.
I'm the proud owner of a Black 2010 SR5 and loving it. I have 5k on the
Odo alot of it playing in the sand and mud.
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good recovery strap and
perhaps some D ring shackles? Has anyone drilled into their frame and
made their own recovery points using hooks or shackles i'm interested in
doing this to my rig. I'm also looking for a shackle to fit my tow hitch with
a D ring on the end. Any info would be appreciated and I hope to learn alot from this community

Cool I've been lookin at picking one of those up. My buddy has one and i used it to recover his jeep which he buried in sand. I was impressed at how easy the 4Runner performed that day and it got me thinking I need a good recovery kit with Straps and D Rings. I sure wish there was a Winch bumper out there.

The link is dead, got a brand name or a new link? I tried a Warn hitch shackle and it just fit badly.

Thanks guys, your recommendations are good enough for me.

I went whole hog and got the ARB Premium Recovery Kit because it had almost everything and came in a case, but the hitch shackle was something I thought I could get locally. I was mildly disappointed that it sat so shallowly in the receiver and wiggled loosely when pinned. Thanks for replying.

I do not understand why toyota does not put a good heavy duty recovery point on the front of the 4th gen and 5th gen 4runners. All they use is a wimpy tie down loop way down low. Even 4x4 Expeditions have very heavy duty tow hooks on them. The factory hooks will not take a lot of abuse. Best to get a good arb etc bumper if heavy off roading is in your future. At least they have decent recovery points.

I think this is a great question. Are there locations that a ring or hook could be mounted to the frame by either welding and/or bolts? I would be nice to have more options for recovery.
