Toyota Auto Care Prepaid Maintenance?
Just got this in the mail today.
I didn't even know I could get it, the dealer never mentioned it when I bought the 4R.
Is this the free 2 year maintenance that everyone has been getting?
And if so, can I use it at any Toyota dealer? They have "Please return to" and the dealer I bought my 4R from on the top of the service certificates, but I don't really want to go there.

Yeah, I think you might have just gotten free service for 60k miles. Those look like the coupons that they gave me. You keep them in your vehicle and then give them to the service writer when you arrive for service. Pretty sure you can use them at ANY Toyota dealership. I know that I paid for the maintenance for my first 60k miles, and they sent me that booklet, along with this "Cross County Perks" thing which is hardly worth much. I just used the same "free car wash" certificate last week. You might check in your original paperwork and make sure you didn't pay for it by them rolling it into the purchase price. Mine was sold to me by the finance guy AFTER I was finished with the salesman...so my vehicle did not just "come with it", but I can see how some dealers might throw that in to get people out to buy cars. Maybe you bought it on a weekend where they were offering that to all customers or something?

Hey, it looks like you got your 4runner from sunnyvale toyota. So did I. I received the first set of coupons for the free 2 year maintenance. I had also purchased an additional 2 years, and I received another set of coupons about a month later. I actually ended up cancelling the extended two years when I realized that you only get an oil change every 10k miles and not 5k. Not worth it in my opinion

Yeah I was p!ssed when I found out it was only every 10k, even if it is synthetic. I went for the 5k service recently, and the service writer told me that they were NOT going to do an oil change. He told me that since they now ONLY use synthetic oil in all their cars, that it is every 10k. Then I got it back, and they DID do it...?? With the synthetic 10k changes, from a value standpoint, you are not really getting duped because the synthetic oil is so much better and would cost more if you paid out of pocket anyways. I did synthetic oil changes every 10k on my old car and never had a single problem.

Does anyone know if these vouchers can only be used in the dealer printed on the front? Reason I ask is that I bought my trail about 500 miles from home.

I'm going to try to use them at my next service at a dealer I did not buy the 4R from. It's such a long time between services when you go 10k ... not a bad thing I guess.

I called Toyota and they said every dealer should honor the coupon/voucher, regardless of the dealer printed on them.

I bought my car in PA but I've been using the 2 yr plan (I'm at 15,000) here in Florida. Doesn't matter what dealer you use. I actually never even had to use the coupons, they just call Toyota customer care and verify that you have the plan. I just show up every 5,000 and it's taken care of without a problem. In fact, was just there yesterday :o)

Every 5k? Are they using synthetic?
I though they would only do synthetic oil changes for us every 10k, or standard oil if chosen every 5k...
I'm just about to hit 5,000 so if they refuse to change it with synthetic, I'll just wait till 10,000 I guess.

Unless your 4R is unique, it already has synthetic oil.

haha... no mine is not unique, which is why I don't plan on letting them put in standard oil at 5k miles.
According to the coupon booklet, it says that the free oil changes can either be used every 5k if you choose to go with regular oil or every 10k if you choose to stick with synthetic.
She mentioned she has hers done every 5k, so I was just curious if her dealer was doing free synthetic oil changes every 5k.

I was told that they change the oil every 10k, they rotate the tires and do a general overview of the vehicle every 5k.

They changed the oil in mine at my 5k service, even though they said they would not. They said they only use synthetic oil now regardless...not real sure if I believe that...wonder how I could figure out if they put regular or syn in there???

Had the 5K service done a couple weeks ago. Invoice said they changed with synthetic. I would guess it varies from dealer to dealer or maybe even region to region.

Is there a way to determine synthetic oil from regular oil by just looking at the oil on the dipstick. Is the texture and color different? Being able to do so would be beneficial for many of us. By the way when I picked up my new 4-runner, the sticker on the service windshield said 5W30. I contacted the service department and they said they have not recieved the new stickers yet but that they use 0W20.
