This is a good "venting" thread, even if 7 years old... I enjoy my '12 Limited but it seems to be missing a few simple amenities...
1. Keep the radio on until I open the door... I hate having to sit there parked with the engine running while I finish a Bluetooth call or finish listening to something on the radio.
2. Wrap the mirror-mounted turn signal indicator lens all the way around to the outside edge of the mirror housing so the driver and vehicles approaching in your blind spot can see it flashing. Why stop it 1" from the outside edge of the mirror?
3. USB/12V ports inside the console (yeah there's one in the glove box)
4. Audio jack inside the console (yeah there's one in the center stack)
5. TPMS display

1. It would be nice to have enough space to install a full size CB in the console stack.
2. under cargo storage
3. USB and audio in the center console
4. bring back the garbage can
5. Storage drawer under the front seats

Definitely hid or led headlights. I don't understand why Toyota puts them on a Corolla but not a $40,000 4runner! More usb and auxiliary oulets would be nice too. Alot of other cars come with more extras but I guess we are smarter and pay for Toyota quality.

So easy. I'd change only one thing. Freaking 4.7 v8. Why the hell did they make the 5th Gen without them? I'd trade mine without blinking tomorrow if they released a 5th Gen with v8.

I'd say better mpg and more power
USB port inside center console and glovebox
Lights on ceiling above cargo area
Better infotainment center
Option to put trail front on limited from factory (or other better clearance solutions)
Rear controls for ac

Love my 2016 SR5.
However, on board telemetry would be cool (tpms, trans temp, coolant, etc).

I'd like dual zone climate available on all grades
Auto headlights would be nice
LED headlights would be GREAT
Heated and cooled seats on grades other than Limited
Make the sunroof standard on the SR5 premiums again!

To fix this all you have to do is put your gear selector in neutral and then cut the engine, then shift to park.

Excellent! I knew someone had probably figured this out.

Few things that I wish were better on my 17 TRD (trail):
1. The brake dive from the factory is insane. My Ford Explorer and Bronco (with worn out TTB) are way more settled when braking.
2. Wish it had a handle on the driver A-pillar for shorter drivers (my wife).
3. Interior feels cheap compared to other manufactures (I rent a good amount of vehicles). 4runners are not cheap, don't understand why the interiors are not up to par.

My 2011 SR5 needs a better radio display and heated seats. So I'm trading for a 2017 SR5 Premium. Problem solved! No more unreadable orange displays!

I'd prefer that the A/C not always default to recirculate when I start up the truck.
