Highway gas mileage, 5th gen V6 4runners (2010+)
Hey folks, I had to delete and recreate these gas mileage polls. I was unaware that the polls would get shown to readers in all forums for all generations of 4runners, and we were getting respondents from all forums about all years of 4runners. This poll is only intended for 5th generation 4runners. Sorry for the confusion.
What is your average gas mileage during highway driving? (Not city.) I might suggest that you not respond to the poll until you have a couple of thousand miles on the truck. Many people have reported that the truck's gas mileage changes a bit after it has broken in.
Lots of people seem to ask what sort of gas mileage everyone is getting in their 5th gen 4runners. I figure having some polls for both city and highway gas mileage would be useful. If these polls get used enough, maybe they can be made sticky? If you're curious, I noted the V6 in the subject line just in case Toyota comes out with a V8 option later. We'd probably want a separate poll for that.

I've got a new 2011 SR5 w/ 500 miles and haven't broke 17mpg. I'm in Illinois and I do allow the car to warm up in mornings as it's been freezing the past few weeks~10 minutes. I'm not going to place a newborn baby in a freezing truck... Once the kid is dropped off, I've got a 15 mile drive (all highway) to work and am very easy on the pedal and averaged 16.7mpg first tank. Just under 15 when I threw in around town driving with just 2 or 3 full throttle runs to get a feel for the engine. I'm sure these poor figures are due to the winter fuel blend and the long warm ups and will likely increase next spring.

I got over 23 mpg during a move from Oregon to Colorado. Since arriving in the latter state, the highway mpg has settled down to the 21 mpg range. It was about a mile lower in Oregon.

I'd vote, but the truck is only 500 miles old...still need to break it in more to get any kind of decent data.

I was getting 21-23 with cruise control on in my Limited, if I pushed the reset button at speed.... but that's dropped to 19ish since my first oil change/ service
If anyone reads this and can think of anything the dealership could possibly have done incorrectly please let me know!
Happy (& SAFE) Holidays Everyone!

Those 285 tires are probably the big contributor to the drop in mileage. It's weird that you were never able to get 20 on the highway, though. On a flat, level highway, I can definitely get 20+ every time as long as I keep it at 70 mph or so. If I go faster, the mileage starts dropping pretty quickly. By 80 mph I'm down into the teens. On big vehicles like this, speed plays a huge part in mileage. (Big, heavy tires don't help, either!)

I just did Detroit to St. Louis round trip in my '11 LTD.
18.1 mpg with the cruise set 69-74 most of the time.
I've got 2600 miles in two months, and I've never seen anything better than 19...which is what was on it when I got it with 109 miles on it.
