Question Grip on bumper for dog

Hi everyone!

I just got my T4R last week. One thing I'm really looking forward to is taking my dog for some long rides with that great rear window down!

She had trouble hopping into my old Xterra, but the bumper on the T4R provides a nice step before the full height of the cargo area, which brings me to the question.

What would you guys use to coat the top surface of the bumper to give it a nice rubbery grip so my dog can jump in and out easily?

Right now it's a bit too smooth and metal and slippery.

Also, is there a removable cargo area liner you'd recommend? Something I can put in the back when the 3rd row seats aren't in use?

Thanks!

I'm not sure how well this would work, but I'll just throw this idea out there. PlastiDip

From what I've read its also got a rubber like texture to it, and people use it to spray on emblems and the chrome on this vehicle. I've got two cans but I haven't had time to use it yet. It could also protect your back bumper from scratches and dings when your dog jumps in and out.

3M anti-slip tape would work great. I have a 1 inch wide strip on top of my sliders and it's worked great. It's been on for 8 months now and still grips and looks like new.

3M ANTI SLIP tape - Google Search

Great stuff! We use it on the wings of airplanes at over 500mph as emergency exit paths in some pretty variable weather conditions.

Thanks!
I picked up a CanvasBack liner kit.
Canvasback Cargo Liner
It's pretty nice, and you don't actually have to take it out ever. The only downside is that it is a bit slippery, so my dogs would slide around a bit in the corners. I ended up going to Costco and getting one of their large dog throws. It fits in the back of the 5th gen perfectly, and provides more traction for the dogs to stand on.

Yup, those costco Kirkland throws fit really well, highly recommend.

I just use an old towel and drape it over the bumper.

I would line your bumper with the 3M anti slip tape. Plastidip wont work because its just as smooth as your bumper. The cargo liner will not help your dog with whats going to be his first step witch is going to be on the bumper. The way i see it is that it will give them the grip to get in without slipping.I have four dogs and this stuff works

You can just buy stick on rubber stripping.

I found an indoor/outdoor mat at Lowes and cut it to fit. Then attached it with velcro-

Cut to fit truck bed mat, with a piece to pull out to cover the bumper.
