Reducing Nose Dive and Roll

All,

I have a 2011 SR5 4x4 premium pkg with 3rd row. This is my primary vehicle that I chauffeur the family around. I love this vehicle.

As noted by many on this forum, there is noticable nose dive during braking and body roll when cornering. Especially when compared to my wife's MDX.

Any suggestion for aftermarket modifications to help in reducing nose dive and body roll?

Thanks.

Er, swapping it for a Limited (with XREAS) or Trail Edition with KDSS would significantly reduce roll. There's not much you can do to reduce nose dive other than installing stiffer springs, with the expected impact on ride quality.

I would try to get some monotube shocks, like Bilsteins. It won't solve all your problems, but will help.

Her MDX is 2002.

Thanks to all who replied...

I read from some threads that Bilstein 5100 is (Front height adjustable 5100: F4-BE5-C475-H0; Rear 5100: F4-BE5-E703-H0) the way to go. Are these the mono tubes?

Also, should I level the vehicle as some suggested?

Thanks

I understand (and experience) the nose dive during hard braking but I just don't understand all the 'body roll' complaints. I have taken the 4R into turns pretty quick and personally I think the body roll is very minimal. I have never owned or really driven a 'car' before so all I have to compare it to is other SUV's and P/U trucks that I have owned in the past or drive for work. The worst body roll I have ever experience in my life is a tie between a Ford Expedition and and Ford Escape HYBRID (non-hybrids seem to be fine). Compared to either of those the 4R feels like a sports car in the corners! Of course compare it to a real sports car and I am sure it fails!

You know I agree. I understand the comments about the brake dive, but the roll really doesn't bother me. I drive curvy rural roads daily. I'm used to stiff suspension sports cars too (Lancer Evolution 9 MR).

I have thought about some bilsteins to level the truck out and stop some of the brake dive though.

I think the body roll or better said, the feeling of body roll, had more to do with those silly OEM tires. I changed my tires soon after purchase. At least in my case, after putting on some stiffer tires, the "feeling" of roll, was greatly reduced. Does not change the nose dive, but frankly, did not think the nose dive was any worse then other vehicles of the same size and weight.

Somehow I developped habbit to brake in a way that noze diving is not really noticable. I was thinking about new tires or shocks or something else but now I notice noze diving only when brake is sudden what happens not very often. Not sure if it helps though : )
