Missing Skid Plate
So I picked up my new 2011 SR5 last week and finally crawled under it this past weekend. I noticed that there seems to be a skid plate missing. I think I am missing the rear portion of the engine skid plate that covers the transmission pan (page 66 of the parts manual). Am I right or this plate only an option on the TE?

This is what the Toyota website says:
Skid Plates: On engine, front suspension, radiator, fuel tank and transfer case (transfer case on 4X4 models only)

I saw that too. Do they consider that part of the engine cover plate or not? I look under there and see the two tabs where the rear trans cover would bolt on to. What does everyone else have on their SR5?

Stupid Q...do you have 4x4? It should not matter but just wondering maybe Toyota didn't think it is necessary on a 2wd?

Sorry, yes 4x4. I though that too.
I called the dealer and he said that they would need to put it up on the lift and look. He could not tell me over the phone, which I though was sort of odd.

If your talking about #4 on page 66 of the parts manual that is'nt a skid plate. It a plastic deflector of some sort and they are making it out alot bigger then it actually is compared to the front two.
I don't think there is a factory skid plate for the tranny in any of the 5ths.There is a frame crossmember that protects it though.

I crawled under mine to see the carnage after my trip to Rausch Creek this weekend....I also have what you describe. 2 threaded holes not attached to anything.
You are right, it def seems like something is missing, but I think its normal....unless I lost a skid yesterday, lol.

Are you guys talking about this? Not on my TE as you can see.
I wonder if you complained to the dealer they would order one for you for "free!!!"
I'm not so concerned about no skid plate but I'm not a fan of the 2 big blades sticking out. Won't be much skidding if you were to catch them on something in reverse.
